Our aim is that nobody has to face cancer alone. To achieve this we provide practical, emotional and financial support through our direct and indirect services. As a member of the Macmillan Minds, you'll be helping us to improve our services and support, just by telling us what you think.

But before you start, you may have some questions of your own. We've answered some below, but if there's anything else you want to know, email us at minds@macmillan.org.uk

Is registration free?

Yes, registering on Macmillan Minds is completely free.

Now I've joined Macmillan Minds what happens next?

We'll email you survey invitations from time to time. All you'll need to do is click on the link in the invitation and it will take you straight to the survey. We'd also be grateful if you could log-on to our community every now and then to check out our latest news and discussion forums.

How long will it take me to complete a survey?

Each survey will take between five to 15 minutes to fill in. We try to keep them as short and simple as possible.

Will you try to sell me something or ask me for money?

No, the information you share with us is just used to help us understand our supporters. We will never use the surveys to promote a product or service, or as a fundraising tool. We just want to hear your views.

How long do I have to reply to an invitation?

Usually you'll have one to two weeks to complete the survey. When you receive the invitation it will let you know when the closing date is.

I've forgotten my username or password. What do I do?

Easily done and easily fixed. If you've forgotten your password or username, click on 'forgot my login or password' below the login area and enter your email address. Then we'll email you a reminder with your password and username.

How can I change my password and email address?

Login, then click on [Registration/My Profile] in your personal area. Enter your new password or email address and click on 'confirm changes'.

How can I update my personal information?

You can change your personal information at any time, just login and go to your personal area to get access to all your data. Just remember to click 'confirm changes' after updating anything.

What if I want to leave Macmillan Minds?

You can leave Macmillan Minds at any time by logging in to your personal area and clicking on 'cancel membership'. In accordance with data protection legislation and the UK Market Research Society Code of Conduct, all your personal data will be deleted. It can take a few days to be processed.

What will you do with the information I share with you?

We ask for personal data for a few reasons. Firstly, it lets us contact you about new surveys and activities. Secondly, it means we will only send you relevant emails. Lastly, it helps us analyse our data by, for example, your gender, age, or the region you live in. You'll never be identifiable by the results that we present.

Who will read the findings?

In most cases the research will be used internally at Macmillan to tell us about our relationships with our supporters. From time to time, though, we may use some findings in press releases, or in charity industry conferences. You'll never be personally identifiable in the findings, however we use them.

If I join Macmillan Minds will I start getting spam?

No. The details you give us will only be used to contact you about Macmillan Minds' research, and won't ever be shared with or sold to third parties.
